Experts in Numismatics may choose to expand their collection in one of the following ways.
1. World coins for specific theme, for example Olympic coins, soccer coins, famous persons' memorial coins, ship coins, animal coins, sports coins, Chinese year coins and etc.
2. World coins for specific metal, for example gold coins, silver coins, copper coins and etc.
3. Coins from specific mints, for example the Shanghai Mint, the Royal Mint of U.K., Singapore Mint and etc.
4. Coins from specific countries which are with higher average price growth due to various reasons such as smaller mintage size, fewer new coins releases, better designs and etc.
5. Specific coins which are well-liked by collectors and the volume of transactions are higher resulting in higher potential of price growth, for example Panda coins from China, Maple Leaf coins from Canada, Kangaroo and Kookaburra coins from Australia, Dollar coins of U.S.A. and etc.
6. Specialize in coins of the collector's country will ensure your expertise in at least one of the countries. However, this should be determined by if the variety of coins is large enough for the collector to survive. Some countries are keen to have regular new coins issues in particular those with limited mintage. Only with new issues of circulation coins are in sufficient for collectors to become experts for the country.
