A little coin become treasure. Citizens should be aware of sweeping away treasure during year-end cleaning. In the coming Saturday Hong Kong is going to hold an auction where some old coins and paper money will be sold. Many of them are expected to have significant price increase. Experts in collection said that because of the difference in their years and numbers, their prices willbe quite different.
Person in-charge of the Pro-Art Auction Mr Leung said that one of the auction items is a 1980 10 Cents coin, and the initial auction price will be 400 Hong Kong Dollars. The expected ending price is at 600 to 700 Hong Kong Dollars. Another 1964 5 Cents will start at 500 Hong Kong Dollars, and is expected to end at 700 Hong Kong Dollars. If the condition is good enough, 2,000 to 3,000 Hong Kong Dollars will definitely be its transaction value. ....................................
Chairman of the Hong Kong Numismatics Institute Mr Ma said that since 1980 was the last year for the production of "large" 10 Cents, and the mintage volume was relatively smaller, the value of the 10 Cents coins are higher. "Uncirculated coins worth 1,000 Hong Kong Dollars, VF coins worth at least 300 to 400 Hong Kong Dollars." ....................................
